Our intensive one-month outpatient program can be done in person / Zoom, or via Telephone and combines evidence-based techniques with personalised support to give you the best chance of beating your addiction for good.
We use a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Relapse Prevention.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps people identify and change negative or destructive thought patterns and behaviors to improve their mental health and well-being.
It’s a structured, goal-oriented approach that focuses on how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. By learning to recognize and challenge negative thinking, individuals can develop healthier coping mechanisms and improve their overall emotional state.
Relapse prevention refers to a set of strategies and techniques used to help individuals avoid a return to undesired addictive behaviors.
The Addiction Clinics’ proactive approach equips individuals with the tools and skills to identify and manage potential triggers, high-risk situations, and develop coping mechanisms to maintain their overall progress.

Most 30-day residential rehabs charges start at around $20,000 for One Month. The Salvation Army Bridge program is free; however, you must meet strict criteria.
When choosing a private rehab, do your research, as some private rehabs in New Zealand are based on a 12-step program.
If you are not committed to this program, the rehab will hold no real value. Make sure the rehab connects with your values. Keep in mind some rehabs in NZ do not all provide medical detox.
Your GP will have an updated list of reputable rehabs in New Zealand.
Not all rehabs are based on the 12-step program – your GP can guide you through this process and recommend some good live-in rehabs that will work for you.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is based on the theory that thoughts influence emotions, which influence Addictive behaviors.
A person who receives CBT will learn to identify and challenge negative, incorrect, or unhelpful thoughts and beliefs around addiction that result in unhealthy behavior, and will also learn relapse prevention strategies, such as self-monitoring to identify and deal with cravings.
The goal is for the individual to identify these negative thoughts, develop ways to adopt positive thoughts, which can then positively impact their emotions and behaviors into more healthy and adaptable actions toward their addiction recovery.
Most rehabs in New Zealand will run for one month. The blend is a mix of relapse prevention strategies and CBT. You will live with a dozen or so people and will have daily group therapy sessions, one-on-one counseling, and day trips ( This is Called Sober Sampling ).
Some New Zealand Rehabs are based on a 12-step program ( AA and or NA ). The 12-step program has had some success with individuals.
